Semi-naked Lady Gaga shows off her artistry and impressive vocal range as she ignores her chart hits to open the iTunes Festival

Most artists use high profile festival performances to play safe by wheeling out a set of crowd-pleasing greatest hits.
But we have come to expect the unexpected from Lady Gaga, and the theatrical New Yorker didn't disappoint at her latest London gig.
Headlining the first night of the month-long iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse, Gaga took the unorthodox step of ignoring all her familiar chart smashes and debuting a clutch of new tracks from forthcoming third album Artpop.

The album, she said, would give her the chance to escape 'the box' that dictated that she had to be 'a good girl' - and show fans 'what's underneath all the theatre'.
On the evidence of this 70-minute show, the record will be more diverse than 2011's Born This Way, although new single Applause was one of several songs strayed too close to the throbbing, Madonna-style electronic dance of debut album The Fame.
As far as special effects go, this was a scaled-down version of a typical Gaga arena show, but the 27-year-old singer was still accompanied by a pounding, six-piece band, lazers, ticker-tape, clouds of dry ice and a troupe of scantily-clad dancers.
