It was
supposed to be her triumphant return to the X Factor stage as Cheryl
Fernandez-Versini performed her new single I Don't Care on Sunday
night's results show.
However,
horrified fans took to Twitter in their droves to lash out at the
starlet - who looked sensational in a plunging white cropped top and
thigh-high boots - and accuse her of miming during the performance,
which was pre-recorded.
But
a spokesman for Cheryl insisted to MailOnline that the 31-year-old
performer was singing live, despite what her detractors claimed.
Singing live? Cheryl was accused by fans of miming her performance, while her spokesman insists it was live
Performing I Don't Care Cheryl Fernandez-Versini arrived on to the stage in a panelled, sheer white outfit.
With a complicated set of dance moves, people were questioning whether or not the singing was live.
Comments
ranged from: 'Omg poor Cheryl out of breath miming takes it out of you x
#xfactor,' to 'I'm on a train. Is Cheryl honestly miming? If she is
then I am going to actually speak for the rest of the evening in
protest. #xfactor.'
Another
user wrote: 'It always amazes me when people complain about Cheryl
miming. If you heard her sing live you'd WISH she was miming.
#xfactor,' while she was blasted for pre-recording her performence.
Hitting out: Fans took to Twitter to slam Cheryl for allegedly miming but her spokesman insisted she wasn't
One
Twitter comment said: 'Pre recorded hours ago & made to look 'live'
AND bad miming...that's the spirit Cheryl, set an example to the acts
wanting to win #xfactor.'
Other
tweets included: 'Forget the looks and the dancing.. Is Cheryl actually
miming on xfactor ?? and 'cheryl judges people every week on their live
performances but she's miming oh ok” reason I don't watch X Factor
#hypocrites.'
Having
showed off a glimpse of her dance moves to Lauren Platt before her
performance of Dark Horse on Sunday, the X Factor judge proved why she's
already a fully fledged pop star.
Superstar: Fans may have slammed Cheryl for miming but the pop star put on a superstar performance on the ITV show
Swinging her hair and thrusting across the stage, the girls' mentor got fully into character for the song.
Performing her latest track, she wore white thigh-high boots with white hot pants and a mesh crop top.
She
also had what appeared to be a see-through jacket tied around her
waist, which she swished around the stage as much as her long locks.
Blonde ambition! Cheryl threw her hair back as she sang the sassy lyrics to her new song
Own the stage! Cheryl showed the contestants how it's done as she dominated the X Factor stage
Asked
afterwards if she had been anxious about performing on the X Factor
stage she said, 'It's natural to be nervous, I think it's healthy to be
nervous.'
Cheryl
said goodbye to another one of her acts on Sunday night as the public
gave the least support to 20-year-old Lola Saunders.
In
a double elimination weekend, The X Factor let go of 20-year-old Lola
after she found herself in the bottom two with boy band Stereo Kicks.
Lola chose to sing Natural Woman, and put everything into her performance.
Twinkle toes! She wore thigh-high white boots with rhinestone heels
Not lacking in self-confidence, she held it together and kept hold of her emotions as she waited for Stereo Kicks to sing.
The eight-piece band took to the stage to do Less Than Perfect by Pink for the judges.
Typically sounding better together than singing solo, the group actually gave their best performance.
Louis Walsh and Cheryl stuck with their own acts, while Mel B decided to send home Lola.
Simon Cowell, claiming to judge purely on the sing-off, saved Lola putting the decision to the public vote.
Receiving the fewest votes, Lola was sent home.
When asked earlier in the night who the judges thought needed to up their game, they each gave a different response.
Prophetic Louis was adamant that Lola Saunders had more to give.
While Mel B said, watching the show back she thought Fleur East needed to improve both her singing and her dancing.
